Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm incredibly excited to announce that we're finally adding doubles support to the Patreon build!

Doubles support is, without a doubt, our longest standing feature request. In fact, people have been asking us to build doubles stats long before we started working on Smashers App or even PGstats.com - we first got this request while building smashdata!
Doubles has always been on our roadmap(s), but the unfortunate combination of it 1) being a lot of work to implement and 2) being pretty niche meant that it has always been hard to prioritize over other features. As time went on and the product continued to evolve, it became even harder to stop forward development and rebuild everything to work for doubles.
So what changed? It was, a little ironically, our expansion beyond Smash into the broader FGC. Specifically, it was the giant refactor we did to support 2XKO and its mixed mode events. With 90% of the work already done, it was a no-brainer to move doubles all the way to the top of the roadmap.
The app is essentially the same, but matches + entrants have been updated to work with teams. If you're already on the 2XKO build, this will look very familiar.

Most of the actual changes for this build were about app navigation, like:
While we are very excited about this v1, we see this as just the first step to building a truly great teams experience. We've got changes big and small coming down the pipeline, like:
More broadly, we also need to figure out how we're going to incorporate singles data into doubles contexts without making it confusing what you're actually looking at. For example, if you're following a doubles event and you're looking at "Mkleo vs Cloud", you can imagine seeing the data filtered to:
This is especially important because almost no doubles events have character data reported on startgg 😢
It'll be challenging to do right, but we believe there's immense narrative value in being able to mix in data from different contexts like this. Wish us luck!
A few things come to mind:
We got a lot of good stuff cooking right now - please look forward to it.
