Private Live Scraper + Smashers App 2.1 (Nov 8, 2024)

Hey everyone!

We're excited to launch the private live scraper for patrons! With this update, you'll be able to use the app to follow any competitive startgg bracket you enter - including your locals and WiFi events!

So what is the Private Live Scraper?

Up until now, the only events that have updated live have been ranked events and Organizer tier patron events. With the private live scraper, we'll be expanding our scraper to cover every competitive event our patrons attend so that they can follow their bracket live in-app.

Unlike other events, the only people who will be able to follow private live scraper brackets live will be patrons. Everyone else will see a preview version of the bracket, like so:

How often do the events update?

Right now, it takes us an estimated 5 minutes to update every private live scraper event in a loop. This delay is mainly because of startgg API rate limiting and we'll be focusing on techniques to get this number down.

Please have patience with us as we continue to improve this.

What's Next?

Rivals 2! And Rivals 1 also. But then we'll finally start work on the startgg Write API features for TOs we've been promising.
