Hey everyone!

Welcome to Supermajor's first non-patreon blog post!

This is something we wanted to start in 2025, but kept pushing back to work on other things. And while it is a tad later than we hoped, a week before 2026 is still 2025 😎.

We first launched the app back in December 2023 with the goal of being the best way for fans to track their competitive scenes. Soon(ish) after, in July 2024 we brought Smashers App to desktop and launched the website. At that time, we knew there were a handful of features we were missing from our previous sites PGstats.com and smashdata.gg:

  • VODs
  • Melee/Smash 4/Strive
  • In depth character stats
  • Articles
  • Head to Head views

But if you ask anyone about why they loved PGstats.com, I'm sure 10 out of 10 people will talk about the articles. PGstats's content team were natural storytellers that regularly used stats to shape narratives that drove the whole scene forward. The hole left by PGstats is still felt today.

Although we lack the funding that PGstats once had, we know how valuable the work is and the role it plays in deepening people's relationships to the sport and to their community. This blog will be our way of dipping our toes in and testing what we can sustainably accomplish with our small team. We'll have to be more grassroots, but with time I’m confident we'll make it work. Lofty ambitions aside, we’ve needed a place outside of twitter to post things 😂

So, what can you look forward to in 2026:

  • Roadmap update
  • Product updates
  • The occasional stats or analysis posts
  • Community video shoutouts
  • Hopefully some familiar and new authors
  • Maybe even the occasional dev s/rant/deepdive

Of course we've got some plans for more consistent content like PGstats.com (IYKYK), but details will have to wait for a future post. And to all of our app users that are reading this on the website, we haven't forgotten about you! There's a big app update coming next year that among other cool things will bring articles to the app.
